Whether On The Road Or By Water
Take the time to familiarize yourself with a few landmarks. Some of us are good at directions and others just need a few extra sightings along the way. By Road... From Philadelphia: (60mi.) Tacony Palmyra Bridge to Rt. 73 South, to Rt. 70 East, to Rt. 72 East, (Right) on Rt. 539 to Tuckerton, (Right) on Rt. 9, go to next traffic light (Left) on Great Bay Blvd., 2 mi. just over first bridge on right. From New York: (120 mi.) NJ Parkway South to Exit 58, (Left) on Rt. 539 to Tuckerton, (Right) on Rt. 9, go to next traffic light (Left) on Great Bay Blvd., 2 mi. just over first bridge on right. From Atlantic City: (25 mi.) NJ Parkway North to Exit 58, (Right) on Rt. 539 to Tuckerton, (Right) on Rt. 9 , go to next traffic light (Left) on Great Bay Blvd., 2 mi. just over first bridge on right. By Water... (From the North) Follow the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) south to "LB" Pole (N 39 degree 33.769' W 74 degree 15.279') Beach Haven. Make a right turn and follow the marked channel starting with Red Can #16 (N 39 degree 34.116 W 74 degree 15,306'). Continue in the past Red Can #12 (N 39 degree 34.473' W 74 degree 15.521') to Red Can # 10 (N 39 degree 33.605' W 74 degree 15.865'). Take compass heading of 282 degree and follow toward Tuckerton Bay. Following a course of 280 to 285 degree will get you to the Tuckerton side of the Middle Grounds. Once on the Tuckerton side you will intersect with Marshelder Channel (marked with red and green markers). Proceed to the Bridge ahead. Remain in the markers and stay center of the bridge opening or through channel. Bare left through this channel (Big Thorofare Creek). The entire creek is "no wake" zone. We are immediately following on the left. (From the South) Follow the Intracoastal waterway north to "LB" Pole (N 39 degree 33.769' W 74 degree 15.279') at Beach Haven and make a left turn to the marked channel leading you to Marshelder Channel. Proceed until Bridge is directly to your left and follow channel under the Bridge. |
