Bad weather can be very subtle or very obvious. Things to look out for are dramatic and quick changes in air temperature. Another sign of inclement weather is increased wind velocity along with cloud cover. All three symptoms can be a sure sign of stormy weather. It is always a good idea to listen to weather reports before taking any trip out on the water. The last thing you want is to turn your fun day into a disaster. Another potentialy hazardous weather related problem is fog. This generally occurs when warm water temperature collides with cooler air temperature. Stay close to shore. Most of the time you can wait out the fog and stay put. The one thing you do not want to happen is to get dioriented. You can lose all sense of direction while in the fog and you are not going to be visible to other vessels on the water. Do not ever assume the other person will see you.
